Chapter 62: "The Deadliest Game"

Special Agent Alexander Slam plunged deeper into the treacherous swamp, leading renowned archeology professor Diana Gervaise. The bellowing Loch Ness Monster pursued them relentlessly. Wading through the fetid swamp muck that came up to their thighs made their progress slow. It was all they could do to keep their distance from the Scottish abomination that howled madly as it crashed through the swamp growth barely a hundred yards behind them.

“I don’t understand,” cried Prof. Diana Gervaise tremulously. “All research points to the fact that the Loch Ness Monster’s vision is motion-based! We should have been completely invisible to it as long as we stood perfectly still.”

“The genetic scientists hired by the terrorists must have made alterations to the original DNA strands,” said Special Agent Slam, his eyes squinting with stoic determination. “This Nessie they have sent after us appears to have many genetic advantages that the original Nessie did not.”

“But there’s only one genetic scientist in the world with the expertise in the Loch Ness Genome program to make those kind of alterations to Nessie’s DNA!”

“That’s right,” said Special Agent Slam. “Your identical twin sister, Monique.”

Prof. Diana Gervaise shuddered tremulously. “Then my father must have known,” she said.

“Our intel indicates that Monique forced his cooperation. We don’t believe your father knowingly or willingly helped the terrorists,” said Special Agent Slam, his eyes squinting with stoic determination. “We’ll know more when we hear back from Special Agent Barclay. Right now our first priority is to lure that Loch Ness Monster into the trap we’ve set up near the cliffs.”

“No! We can’t!” Prof. Diana Gervaise cried, stopping in her tracks, her shapely curves heaving tremulously.

“Why not?” said Special Agent Slam, turning towards her stoically.

“I haven’t told you everything about Monique’s experiments,” she said. “We assumed that her research into the Loch Ness Genome Project involved the cloning of the creature, but we were wrong. She was actually studying human mutation.”

“Wait a minute,” said Special Agent Slam, his stoic nerves shaken for the first time. “Then, are you saying…”

“That’s right. The monster that’s chasing us, that’s not something my sister created with my father’s help…” She paused tremulously before uttering the next devastating sentence.

That is my father!

Wow. . . I squint all the time, and most people are taken aback by it. I was completely unaware that it was a sign of stoic determination. Thanks Steak, this really explains a lot.

Har! Fishmongsters are plenty more of a threat than Ninji. This I know by hard experience.
