Apparantly a teenager from Lake Luzerne, NY needed brass scrap metal. Since bullet casings are brass, he decided to gather up some of those.
To get the bullets out, he secured the rounds in a vice and fired it (the round, not the vice) by striking the primer with a hammer and screwdriver.
I don't want to give away too much of this amazing story, so I'll just leave you with this little "teaser" quote from the article:
"He was treated at Glens Falls Hospital and was released. No charges were filed."

Stupidity is a crime in several states. . . I can follow the logic.
Hi, just visiting. I find this article especially interesting since my uncle was stupid enough as a kid to put a bullet under an electric train to "see what happened." The hospital thought his mother had shot him in the neck.
I think the Darwin awards should give honorary awards for "near misses."
